- Sept. 23, 2011: End-of-Summer
Social at St. Margaret's Chapel in Henderson,
Optional walk in woods at 5:30pm, Evening Prayer at 6:00pm
followed by dinner and a chapter meeting with sharing of
reports from summer conferences, travel experiences, etc.
Barbecue and drinks will be provided, side dishes and
desserts are pot-luck. Please let Neal Biggers know if

- Oct. 14, 2011: Silent Movie
with Organ Improvisations by Robert Nicholls at
First Presbyterian Church in Evansville, 7:30pm. The
movie will be Nosferatu.
- Nov. 6, 2011: Recital on
historic Giesecke organ in Poseyville, Indiana,
beginning at 4:00pm followed by a reception. Chapter
members are invited to go to dinner together afterwards at
the Feed Mill near

if you would be willing to play on the program.

- Jan. 23, 2012: Organ Tuning and
Maintenance Issues. Robert Nicholls will help us
greet the New Year with a valuable presentation focused on
the tuning and maintenance of the pipe organ. We will
meet at 7:00 p.m. in Neu Chapel. This will be very
beneficial for those members who are experienced enough to
do touch-up tuning on their instruments, while at the same
time being informative for those of us who rely on the
service of professional tuners. We look forward to
beginning the year with our fellow musicians. If you

- February 10, 2012: Pedal, Pipes
and Pinot (Introduction to the pipe organ for
adults), beginning at 6:30 p.m. at Redeemer Lutheran Church
on Lincoln Avenue in Evansville (across from the University
of Evansville). Refreshments will follow at the nearby
home of one of our chapter's members. RSVP

in Honor of Dr. Douglas Reed's Teaching Career, at First
Presbyterian Church in Evansville. 4:00 p.m., followed

- May 7, 2012: Dinner/Chapter
Meeting/Recital at St. Mary Catholilc Church. The
recital, which will include a brief installation service for
our offices, will be part of a series of events featuring
the new pipe organ at
St. Mary Church.

Trinity United Methodist Church, 2011 Arts in August Series:
Andrea Drury, director of choirs at North High School, will
present a vocal recital at 3 p.m. Aug. 7. Other performances
include Thomas Drury, music director at Trinity, with Thomas
Josenhans, clarinet, and Jennifer Wingert, cello, on Aug. 14;
Luther Lewis on Aug. 21; and Douglas Reed, professor emeritus of
the University of Evansville, on Aug. 28.
August 21, 2011: Organ recital by Carolyn Howard, St. Mark's
Lutheran Church, Evansville, IN, 2:00 p.m. This will be a
fundraiser for the Hope for the Rejected ministry for
teenagers. Music by Bach, Buxtehude, Hakim and Mendelssohn.
September 18, 2011:
New organ
dedication concert and reception, Mark X. Hatfield, Organist, at
St. Mary Catholic Church, Evansville, 6:30 p.m.
October 20, 2011: Dr. Douglas Reed, University Organist, will
present Neu Chapel Organ @ Noon on Thursday, October 20, from
12:15 to 1:00 p.m. The informal program, dubbed The Last Rose of
Summer, will include discussion and performance of a bokay [sic]
of musical flowers by a variety of composers: Dudley Buck, Joseph
Bonnet, and Johannes Brahms. Special features will include the
Waltz of the Flowers and Tip Toe Through the Tulips played on that
infamous portable reed organ, the accordion. Refreshments
will be served in Neu Chapel narthex following the free concert.
November 7, 2011: The American Boychoir at First Presbyterian
Church in Evansville, 7:00 p.m.
November 17, 2011: Dr. Douglas Reed will perform the last Neu
Chapel Organ @ Noon concert of the semester on Thursday, November
17, at 12:15. A prelude to Thanksgiving and postlude to
Reformation Sunday, the 45 minute program will include discussion
and performance of two famous Lutheran hymns, Nun danket alle Gott
(Now Thank We All Our God) and Ein feste Burg ist unser Gott (A
Might Fortress Is Our God) as arranged by J.S. Bach, Sigfrid
Karg-Elert, Helmut Walcha, and others. Refreshments will be served
by the Neu Chapel Society in the Chapel narthex following the
program.
November 20, 2011: Concert: "Music for Saints Eternal", with
Matthew Vanover, conductor/organist; the choir of First United
Methodist Church, Henderson; Neal Biggers, organist; Jordan Knipp
and Jessica Vanover, sopranos, and other local musicians, at Holy
Name Catholic Church in Henderson at 7pm. The program
includes Faure's Requiem with orchestra, and organ music by
Messiaen and Bach.
December 4, 2011: Organ Recital of music for Advent and Christmas,
with Robert Nicholls, organist; Dupre's "The World Awaiting the
Savior," and all nine meditations from Messiaen's "La nativite du
Seigneur; 4pm at First Presbyterian Church in Evansville.
EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE
MEETINGS:
The Executive Committee
generally (but not always) meets on the first Monday of each
month at Eastside Christian Church, Weinbach at Bayard Park,
at 5:30pm. Chapter members are welcome to attend a
meeting to share ideas, suggestions, or concerns with our
chapter's officers.
