On Sunday, January 23rd, members and guests of the Evansville Chapter of the AGO and the University of Evansville Student Chapter of the AGO enjoyed a Potluck Dinner at the home of Dr. Douglas Reed.  About 30 people attended and enjoyed great food and fellowship.

Pedals, Pipes and Pizza is scheduled for President’s Day, February 20th from 9:30 AM-12:30 PM.  It will be held at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, 2300 Washington Ave. in Evansville.  Our challenge this year is that it has become a school make-up day for Warrick County due to the tornado and a make-up day for Henderson County due to flooding.  Our goal is to encourage students from the other counties and students who are home schooled.  AGO members who are willing to help, please contact: Helen S. Reed, Education Convener 812-476-0673, hsr@evansville.net

The Executive Committee is considering the possibility of sponsoring a Pipe Organ Encounter in 2007.   Substantial money is available to support this endeavor.  Areas for volunteers include: Director, Secretary/Registrar, Treasurer, Services Coordinator, Facilities Coordinator, Faculty Coordinator, Publicity Coordinator, Funding Coordinator, and Scholarships.  Please contact Dr. Douglas Reed with ideas and your willingness to help. 812-488-2877, dr5@evansville.edu

Lea Schmidt-Rogers, who has urged our chapter to do a Pipe Organ Encounter writes from San Diego (where they are now planning their third Encounter): “One of the interesting ways to learn if you want to do one is have one of your members be an overnight chaperon for us.  We could use someone for the women.  We would pay for her meals and board. If you know of someone who might be interested, let me know.”  If anyone is interested, please get in touch with Lea at lrogers4@san.rr.com.

She has also written more recently, “I am fairly confident that the Schmidt Foundation would contribute to scholarships for any Evansville High School students that would want to attend our POE [San Diego].  I know that St. Louis is having one, and that may be an option for some of the students too.”

Carolyn Adams was wondering if anyone else is planning to go to the AGO Convention in Chicago, July 2nd-6th.   Her e-mail is lcadams_1@juno.com   See “The American Organist” magazine for further details on the convention.
